Iran-USA relations history

While Iran is introduced by the USA as” axis of evil”, Iran names USA “great Satan”. This is not only slogans, It is 27 years that both countries even did not  have the minimum relationship, sometimes they had some negotiation on issues that benefited both sides, but officially both of them avoided to start any negotiation. This subject is not a thing related only to Islamic revolution but a long history of challenges between two countries

In 1951 Nationalist primeminister “Mossadeq” submitted a plan to Iran"s Parliament to nationalize the country"s oil assets. Throughout the next couple of years, Mossadeq moved to limit foreign interests in Iran and to limit the shah"s (king’s) powers

In 1953 U.S.-backed coup ousted Mossadeq. At the height of the Cold War, the Eisenhower administration approved a joint British-American operation to overthrow Mossadeq, worried that his nationalist aspirations will lead to an eventual communist takeover. At first, the military coup seemed to fail, and the shah left the country. After widespread rioting -- and with help from the CIA and British intelligence services -- Mossadeq was defeated and the shah returned to power, ensuring support for Western oil interests and snuffing the threat of communist expansion. This U.S.-backed coup is still one of the biggest arguments that Iranian people have against USA. And when in March 2000 Secretary of State Madeleine Albright acknowledged the U.S. role in the 1953 coup, lots of analysts considered this as a signal for starting the relationship between two countries
